Welcome to the awesome JJ family! In JJ, we pride ourselves as a college that stresses not only on academic excellence, but also on the development of dynamism and leadership in all our students. The college is focused on providing a value-added education that develops students as life-long learners who have a keen sense of awareness in global issues. Apart from class lessons, the camps, overseas trips and enrichment programmes deeply enhance our learning experiences. 

Welcome to the big JJ family! In JJ, we value each and every individual because we believe that everyone has something to contribute. This school stands out because of the warmth and friendliness of the people, both staff and students alike, and a helping hand is always given to anyone who needs it. 

It is in JJ that I feel at ease to express myself freely as it is a place where innovation and creative ideas are valued. The caring school leaders, the dedicated teachers and the friendly non-teaching staff all contribute to making the school a harmonious place to work and study in. 

JJ offers a wide range of co-curricular activities (CCA). My involvement in the Netball CCA has made my experience in JJ more fulfilling and enjoyable. Not only are the trainings fun, my teammates and I have also become closer through our time spent together during these sessions.

As the teacher in-charge of the Basketball Club, I have led students to many inter-school tournaments and observed that our students have excellent fighting spirit and sportsmanship. They never give up trying their best and they always have fun cheering for their own team, and even those from other schools. 

Being a JJ alumnus myself, it is a pleasure to return to my alma mater to teach. What I love about this school is its friendly environment which fosters bonding amongst students and staff. 

JJ has a friendly and very conducive learning environment. My schoolmates are always motivated to do their best and this really spurs me to study harder. The teachers here are kind, helpful and most approachable too!

The students who fill the seats in JJ classrooms today are diverse in many ways. Our teachers recognise that all JJ students are different and require varied teaching methods to be successful in school and life. Understanding the students’ learning styles can be challenging. However, it is important that teachers tailor our teaching styles and resources to meet students’ needs. Given my relatively short experience as a teacher in JJ, I am grateful that these challenges have become opportunities for me to learn from colleagues, especially the more senior teachers, on how to be an even more effective teacher.

Since the day I joined JJ, I find the level of enthusiasm shown by the students and the teachers in teaching and learning the most inspiring. Everyone here puts in their best effort in everything they do and this is reflective of the spirit embodied in our school values, that is, to be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals. 

As the President of the Student Council, I would say that JJ has given me more than just an education; the college has given me every opportunity to develop my potential, not just as a student, but as a 21st century citizen.

The dedicated teachers and the caring seniors made a difference in my student experience here at JJ. It is easy for me to approach them whenever I encountered problems, be it in the academic or personal areas. JJ has indeed provided me with a platform to thrive and excel both academically and in my personal development. 

As a student leader, the college has given me many opportunities to showcase my leadership abilities through organising and participating in a number of school projects. The skills and knowledge that I have acquired will definitely serve me well in the future. 

JJ is a home away from home. Some of us are here early for breakfast or a morning jog. Others get together to engage in sports and games in the evening after school. Many students come early to school to discuss their school work and stay late into the evening to study or for CCA. Our students’ firm sense of appreciation is what makes many of them come back for visits even after they have graduated. They bring little but meaningful gifts each time. 

These chat sessions with my former students always warm my heart and make my day. This is one reason why I am still here, living the happy life I have been living all these years in JJ.

JJ gave me the opportunity to set up our very own JJ Gaming Club. My team and I had a very meaningful and enriching experience building an entire business from the scratch.  We participated in the Students for the Advance of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) World Cup competition held in Abuja, Nigeria and won the Gold medal in the Best Social Enterprise Category. During my time at JJ, I have learnt invaluable lessons about leadership and enterprise.
