‘A’ Level Results Day
Congrats JJ Class of 2017!
On February 23rd 2018, JJCians from the Class of 2017 walked into the Hall, with nervous but excited smiles, ready to venture into the next stage of their lives. Waiting intently for their GCE ‘A’ Level Results, they listened to Dr. Hang Kim Hoo, the Principal, and Ms. Patricia Lim, the Vice-Principal, as they spoke about the school’s performance with pride. Sharing how more than 103 students saw their University Rank Points (URP) improve by at least 10 points, from their Preliminary Examinations, the 2017 Batch was filled with hope. This entire event was telecast live to the J2 batch of 2018 and we were indeed inspired by the seniors’ hard work.
This was soon followed by the Class of 2017 collecting their results, and many embracing their friends and family from sheer happiness and relief – their hard work had all paid off. The top scorers for this year, Lim Ji Ah from 17A02, Chloe Lee Ke Er from 17S01 and Neel Rahul Obordo Karve from 17S21 all attributed their success to a multitude of reasons, an important reason being maintaining a healthy lifestyle: taking care of themselves mentally as well as physically. They stressed the importance setting goals, staying focused and getting enough sleep.
Another senior from 17A02, Jane Yeo Yoke Peng, who scored 2 H2 Distinctions, noted that maintaining a healthy group of friends to study with in order to motivate yourself, listening during lectures and tutorials, and making concise notes was crucial in her success. She, similar to the three top scorers, stressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle which should be something the current J2s keep in mind as they prepare themselves for the daunting examinations.
All in all, the Class of 2017, fueled by perseverance and hard work performed exceptionally and did the College proud. We wish them all the success in their future endeavours!
The Class of 2018, should learn from the seniors’ success and continue to overcome setbacks, work hard and achieve their goals. May this apt phrase Dr. Hang directed to the 2017 Batch, push the Class of 2018 to greater heights, noting the many hurdles coming – “Remember it’s not failure, It’s a setback. Don’t give up!”
