J2 Graduation Day for Class of 2017
The J2 Graduation Day was held on 6th October 2017. It was a day where staff and parents celebrated the milestone achieved by the Class of 2017 and wished them the very best for their A Levels. Unlike previous years, this year’s edition was a whole-day event. Centred around the theme of ‘Making Memories’, the Class of 2017 was given many opportunities to do just that.
The morning started out with the formal Farewell Assembly where the college acknowledged the recipients of the Edusave Character Award (ECHA) and the inaugural Good Progress Award. The latter was given to students who displayed improvements in their academic performance over the course of the year. The Farewell Assembly segment also featured many spectacular and even hilarious videos made by the J2 Subject Tutors. Teachers also put up live performances which awed the students. The event was capped off with the distribution of various JJC-themed memorabilia prepared by the school and the Parent Support Group for the Class of 2017, much to the delight of the students.
Next up was the inaugural Grad Day Carnival. Featuring game and event booths run by the J1 House Committees and the J2 CTs, this was a mega hit with the Class of 2017. The booths featured carnival games like Whackamania, Ring Toss, Hit-The-Target, Ping-Pong Toss and video-game-style physical adventure games like Savage Room and Escape Room. Food and beverage booths distributing popcorn, candy floss and ice cream to the J2 students further livened the carnival atmosphere. Other non-game booths such as the Photobooth, Art Attack, DIY MuG Cake, Origamessenger stations were also set up to add to the variety of activities that students could participate in. The students tried out all the stations and there were snaking queues for a number of activities and booths in high demand. Smiles were seen all around the main Carnival Grounds – the Hall and Classroom block.
In between these activities, the classes had their class party where they spent time with their classmates and Civics Tutors by having a meal and chit-chatting with one another. The crowds only started to disperse once the stations closed in the afternoon but many continued to autograph their diaries, which was the Grad Day gift from the school, and took photos around the college to mark the last day of school.
The J2 Graduation Day was a truly memorable and poignant send-off for the Class of 2017 and we wish them all the best for the A Levels.
