JJC Celebrates Teachers’ Day
This year’s Teachers’ Day Celebrations saw students and staff enjoying a concert in the school hall before proceeding for their individual class celebrations. Organised by the 37th Student Council, the Teachers’ Day concert started off with a video montage of students’ well-wishes for their teachers. This was followed by a series of performances by the Guitar Ensemble (playing “El Bimbo” and “You Raise Me Up”), Fatima Mehjabin from 18S05 (singing “Stop and Stare”) and student councillors Kelsey Chong and Sheryl Chin (singing “Scared to be Lonely” and “Say You Won’t Let Go”).
In between the performances, both staff and students were invited to participate in two exciting games: “Guess Who”, which involved staff and students guessing the identity of school staff members after being given a clue via the website Kahoot, and “Mega Charades”, which involved groups of students from every class playing charades with their Civics Tutors.
After the games and performances came the presentation of school awards given to teachers as nominated by their students. These awards, sponsored by the JJC Parents Support Group, included the Outstanding Teacher Award, Caring Teacher Award and Outstanding Civics Tutor Award. The finale of the celebration was a lively dance performance by the 37th Student Council, after which students and staff proceeded to the canteen for their class celebrations.
