JJC’s 36th College Day
Our 36th College Day was a meaningful one which provided staff, students, alumni and partner organisations the opportunity to celebrate our achievements and reminisce our illustrious past. Mr Tung Siew Hoong, Director of the Portfolio Executive Group in Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), as well as a JJ alumnus from the pioneer batch himself, was the Guest of Honour for the event which saw current students and alumni receiving awards for their stellar performance in both their academics and Co-Curricular Activities (CCA). Other awards presented at the ceremony included the Long Service Award for Staff, and the Friends of JJ Award for the college’s community partners.
Some highlights of the event’s proceedings included a photo montage of the class of 2016, and the college report shared by our Principal, Dr. Hang Kim Hoo. In his report, Dr. Hang stressed the college’s philosophy which underpins our college’s approach to holistic education. At JJC, we care by seeking to know our students’ interests and strengths, and customise their experiences by providing varied opportunities for all. We also celebrate all accomplishments, big and small, and imbue in our charges courage on their journey towards personal excellence.
Guest of Honour Mr Tung then addressed the audience and shared his memories and experiences as a student in JJC back then, complete with his personal collection of photographs, even those taken at JJC’s very first campus. Last but not least, Mr. Koh Huan Wen, our valedictorian this year, shared heartfelt anecdotes of his academic journey and learning experiences as a Beneficiary Director of the Interact Club. He also took the time to send messages of appreciation to his teachers who have supported him in the two years.
The event drew to a close as the audience, led by Huan Wen, rose to sing the college anthem in unison. Congratulations to all our deserving prize winners!
