Environmental Conservation Club obtained “Encouragement Award”
The Environmental Conservation Club (ECC) submitted a project based on water conservation. It consisted of two parts. The first part was a Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) lesson package centred on water conservation, and it was carried out in all JC1 civics classes in 2017. Through the lesson, students engaged in discussions about the importance of water conservation. In addition, they also calculated the amount of water they used at home, so that they could further reduce water usage. More than 80 percent of students surveyed highlighted that the lesson package was immensely beneficial for them.
The second part comprised of a water rationing exercise organized in March 2017. Students experienced the actual process of water scarcity and knew how to respond accordingly. This was a valuable lesson for everyone as we prepare for a day when there might be water shortage in the country.
ECC was represented by its President, Nur Irdina Bte Iskandar (18S15), and Vice-President, Tay Qi Ying (18S20).
We wish to thank our teachers-in-charge, Mrs Tham-Kee Yong Huang, Ms Audrey Aw, and Mr Aloysius Foo for their guidance. We also express our appreciation for the School Leaders in supporting our environmental efforts in school.
Lastly, it is only with the support of fellow students that we can help to protect our environment!
