Massive Turnout for JJ Alumni Homecoming 2017!
JJC was enthused to welcome home over 2,000 ex-JJCians and former staff, together with their loved ones, for JJ Alumni Homecoming 2017. This year, in addition to the annual Alumni Homecoming Games organised in March, the college invited alumni of the past 36 years back again for this momentous event on the 29th of August.
Festive green, white and gold balloons were placed all around the school, providing not only a JJ-themed decorative touch but also serving as colourful photo-taking props. To help our ex-students locate their friends – many of whom they may not have seen in ages – designated areas were allocated as gathering points according to the different decades in which they had graduated from JJC. Many who turned up brought their yearbooks and old photos along and managed to reconnect with old classmates and even teachers, recounting the good old days spent in the school campus. Couples who had first met in JJC were also reminiscing their love stories that had blossomed in JJC! Classrooms were open for photo-taking and participants could also contribute to the commemorative scrapbook that will be brought to the new site of the college. Earlybirds received their very own commemorative photo holders which they could fill with memories made that day while others received other JJC memorabilia. Photo booths with different JJC-themed backdrops were set up around the school for all to take a nice memento back home.
In addition to the Homecoming event, the pioneer batch of JJC had arranged for a special commemorative lunch for their 36th anniversary. They even received a special message from Jurong Junior College’s first Principal, Mr Koh Beng Thiam, for the Pioneer Batch (Class of 1981-1982). It was a truly heartwarming moment for all who were present. It was indeed heartening to receive such a massive show of support for the event! Do look out for other commemorative events lined up in the months to come!
